Swing era Germany. A young Leni Riefenstahl is acclaimed as the greatest female filmmaker of the 20th century. Dancer, actor, screenwriter, and director, she is renowned as a consummate artist. Then come the atrocities of the Third Reich and suddenly she is dismissed and despised as a Nazi whore. "Tiefland" is a fictionalized account of her struggle to restore her reputation and her desperate attempt to regain the adoration she once enjoyed.

Interesting, somewhat choppy, rambling account with occasional clear writing, enough of which to carry one through to the end.The historical references were evocative. Reads like a screenplay.... no surprise.Product details

I enjoyed this book. Well written and thoughtful, it brings to life a slice of history with interesting characters, particularly the tormented Leni Riefenstahl. I recommend it!
I love reading historical fiction as well as history, I love learning, seeing new aspects as i get involved in the storyline. And in this fictionalized story of a time in the the post WW2 life of Leni Riefenstahl, i did just that! I guarantee that it's written unlike any other account of her life...intriguing to say the least with a twist at the end.
Initially it did seem to be somewhat disjointed, but once you get used to the writing style of the author you'll appreciate the time spent reading TIEFLAND.
Interesting, somewhat choppy, rambling account with occasional clear writing, enough of which to carry one through to the end.The historical references were evocative. Reads like a screenplay.... no surprise.
